I have had Campaign Waterloo for a couple of weeks now and have been scanning the manuals, to no avail, to find an answer to the following question;

For the purposes of determining whether or not a battalion can go into Extended Line formation is there an easy way of determining the difference between two rank battalions and three rank battalions?

Casting my mind back to the dim and distant past, I seem to remember gaming with Anglo-Allies battalions in a two rank line and the French/Prussians in a three rank line. Though I can't quite recall what book I got that from. Is that the case here?

Thanks

Mssr.,

All you have to do is look at the unit icon in the Info Box. Units that are eligible to form extended line have "Shortened" in the Info Box above the "line" formation symbol AND the symbol will show 3 ranks: ///>. Once in extended line, the symbol chabges to /> and it will say "extended" in the Info Box.

What if you have a infantry unit in column, is there anyway to tell whether it is a 2 rank or 3 rank battalion?
