Last reminder for the SON Tournament battles for Round 1. All battles must be completed today so everyone needs to wrap things up and send me your last (unzipped) BTE files so that I can determine the CPD for each game.

In addition to the officers previously mentioned, the following officers have also now registered victories in Round 1:

Alexandr Zaytsev
Antony Barlow
Bill Cann
James Bell

Congratulations to these officers for their victories!

We still have eleven of twenty-nine matches unresolved at this time, many more than I think there should be with less than 24 hours to go.

I have sent an email to all tournament participants which included the Round 2 Pairings, along with the results of the Round 1 matches. The email also included some instructions. Bill Peters has not received it, whereas I have already been answering some questions posed by Zach Bogue. If you did not receive the email as intended, please let me know.

Helpful Tips for Prussian Commanders
1. Never shout 'Vorwärts Meine Kinder, Vorwärts!!' When your troops are formed in squares.

But because the French decided to kill all of their horses in Russia we rarely find the need to give the order. Usually a brigade of Cossacks is around to scare away any of the "Big Boots" that Napoleon might muster.

Three 'Mad Prussians' running around, all at the same time.

One could be standing on his soapbox, preaching the wisdom of joining the Prussian cause; one could be passing around the offering plate for donations to facilitate the defeat of the Little Corsican; and the third could be guarding the doorway to make certain that none escape until they have either enlisted, or surrendered all of thier worldly possessions for the greater good of mankind to be brought about by Prussian arms.

Reminds me of the joke about Soviet soldiers always patrolling in threes.
Apparently one of them could read, another could write and the third was to stop the two intellectuals becoming capitalists :|

Due to slow play caused by the MP exchanges, I am extending the deadline for the SON 2011 Tournament Round 2 Winner's Bracket matches until April 30th. Since we cannot conclude the tournament until all rounds are played, I will extend the deadline for the Loser's Bracket to April 30th as well. There will not be any further time extensions for this round, so please concentrate on finishing your matches by the new deadline.

These extensions will necessarily delay the start of the 2012 Tournament, so you fellows that have not yet purchased Leipzig will have a bit more time to do so. For those that already own the title, you just get a little more time to practice with that particular system.

If you shoot for a September start (so that the Europeans can enjoy their annual vacation) things should work out right. Even mid to late September is fine.

But do not forget that quite a few folks here will be out of town during August.

Ah, to be lying on the shores of Lake Garda this year!

Just a quick reminder that all Round 2 matches need to be completed by the 30th of this month. That leaves you a little less than 2 weeks to put the final touches on your victories.

If the game is not finished by today I guess we need to send you the last file so you can look at the losses?
