 The 17th Inf Regt 1812 Kingdom of Naples former Bataillon de Pionniers Noirs raised in France in 1803 from West Indian noirs an mulattos. Transferred to Neapolitan service on Aug 14 1806 as the 7th LIR "Real Africano". In 1812 they went to Danzigas part of the 33rd Div. XI Corps. outstanding Hero of the regt. Ch Bn Hercule wounded in 1806
