Nay Sir, spare yourself, my Master, the Emperor, decreed I confiscate it all The Armee d'Espagne, although not being noted port drinkers, have nonetheless taken it into custody and it wends it's way towards the Pyrenees |

Outrageous! Suffice to say the 23rd Light Dragoons will not let this infamy stand Sir. Best make sure your wagons are well protected, otherwise we will liberate them for King, Country and a monumental hangover! |

A commotion erupts at the door of the Tavern. With a crash, an Allied Officer and his horse burst over the threshold. Steadying his steed, the Allied Field Marshal dismounts and crosses to the bar. Garcon! What is this I hear? Tell me its not true! A RUM SHORTAGE? This is truly blasphemy and no doubt the work of the French Emperor and his slovenly baton twirlers! Helga! break out my secret barrel and fill these empty glasses. This situation cannot stand. Harumph. |

Ah, whats this, a fellow cavalry officer, and with a supply of the elixir of life no less. Marvelous, not a moment too soon Sir and I don't mind if I do partake Sir. Let us share tales of battle, triumph, the fair sex and the advantages of a sound forward defence (cricket of course old chap!) Cheers |

Ha! Well now pull up a chair mon ami, we can drink to who has the finest cavalry, I am sure we all know who that might be (aside, poor French chap, probably been out in the sun a little too much, best humor him chaps.......) |

Just go easy Gentleman, nobody should go out Drunk Horsing tonight.... Barkeep, call the stable boy and have him ready my horse, "Curtis" , before this gets any more contentious. |

Contentious? Not even close. The only time things start to get out of hand is when Sir Muddy's horse gets drunk. FYI, hide Curtis if he does. |

After a night of huge camaraderie, drinking, eating, boasting and swearing undying friendship with fraternal enemies quiet settles on the tavern. Through the night gentle snoring breaks the peace as does the wind (!) now and again. Slowly, our protagonists awake, take their breakfast, coffee (tot of rum anyone?), heads are cleared and farewells bidden. As one of the Russian officers rides away a junior officer mutters, 'Poor devils those Russian cavalry, look how they issue their senior commanders with bow legged horses, it is too much to bear for such an honorable Gentlemen.' In the onlooking crowd a Field Marshal remains impassive as a horse neighs in the distance, or was that a snicker? |

Just a word to you Coalition lot, by the stink of that rum still about you, a candle and a gentle breeze might set you aflame! Also, a dearth of training officers has been answered at least in part - I have undertaken instruction of a new officer who was found skulking about the back rooms of the tavern after last night's festivities. Is it the wine, or do I hear talk of tournaments, front lines, and far-flung battlefields? |
