Preußischen Armee-Korps - Return of the Prinz von Dennewitz

With having kept a good eye on the East Prussian Hunting Lodge (Ostpreußen Jagdschloss), after his script for "Munition Waggon 54 Wo bist du?!?" was not accepted by Franken Fernsehen (TV) and having finished reading all issues of Ernie's "Idaho Potato Monthly" as well as singing every tune in "Prince Eugène's Sing-a-Long Songs & More", having properly followed his own small pamphlet "Outhouse Manifesto: An Orderly's Guide to Cleaning the Rhine Tavern and it's Latrines After Sir Muddy's Horse Has Been About", though having failed to help Paco and Andy Moss finish "On Campaign Making with Bill Peters" (now 20 years old almost), while preparing for another draft of his unpublished manuscript about me "Ich Dien-ing to Eat: An Autobiographical Self Help for When Mein Kommandeur Herr Alte Windbagenführer Writes or Gives a Long Speech and You're Hungry"...................

It was with esteemed honour and great privilege, in the name of our revered König Friedrich Wilhelm III., sovereign of Prussia and protector of Germany and the Generalstab des Königlich-Preußischen Armee-Korps, that I am proud to announce and we celebrate the return of our founding officer & first Oberbefehlshaber der Preußischen Armee:

Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Prinz Peters von Dennewitz

in command of:

with his honorary Gardegrenadier Command:

I have ordered the playing of the "Yorckscher Marsch" in Bill's honor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZix2QJgWUQ

Gentlemen of all armies, prepare to raise a glass, sing the Oom pah pah music and pass out from the schnitzel and Bill's four hour glockenspiel concerts, we give you the famed Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Prinz Peters von Dennewitz!

As Issued at Berlin on the 3rd day of October (Wartenburg Day!) of the current year,

Thanks, Scott. Its nice to be back.

I will be "semi-retired" as of this coming February (signed up for Social Security this morning), still doing work for WDS, but am about to start what is probably my last full game project for the Panzer Campaigns Team. Along with that I also do map work and that works fine for me. The pace is still steady but I look forward to having more time now to play a game or two in the club.

Rich and his Nap Battles Team are now taking care of the games that I helped produce so that also helps me here in that they handle all questions about those titles AND with a new forum to field those questions it means that I am totally out of the loop. I was VERY happy to see the new WDS forums and I highly suggest that our members take full advantage of them. We have wanted them for years. They also help reduce the support email load for Rich a bit I dare say.

So I need to polish my riding boots, get my uniform out of mothballs and get reacquainted with how you folks are handing musters and so on. I appreciate how the club allowed me to remain on the forum as an "Observer." The club is 24 years old now if I do the math correctly (started in 1998). Its glad to see a steady flow of new members being added.

I have been playing Andrew Moss and an old friend of mine who I got into the Nap Battles games. Andy and I are at turn 30 of 60 turns of the historical Battle of Tournay and Keith (my old friend) and I are at turn 62 of The Battle of Marengo. Its been nice to play the games and see how the updates to the series have improved play.

So I await the howling and jeering from the French, look forward to joining my old command again and hey, I hope to be in a club game very soon.

Welcome back Bill!!!

I figured you would make your way back eventually. Sure, pushing digital tanks around can be enjoyable but you always come back to the smell of black powder and nervous horses!

Welcome Bill! Maybe you can prod the Allies into getting more officers into the field!

Thanks, guys. We Prussians would leave the hunting lodge and take to the battlefield but after June 18th we are noticing far few Frenchmen available to fight!

:frenchlol: :russianveryhappy:

I guess we need to come to Paris to find more ;)

Yank them out of their mother's villas. :sly:

(actually am in a game now with Mike Cox and keeping my big trap shut .... my playing ability these days is nothing to write home about ... feeling the senior mental decline for sure)

The "Prince of Potatoes" (me) was able to get a victory in my first game back. Mike Cox and I played #112 Fuentes de Orno from BPW. IMHO it favors the Allies so I am not here gloating. I credit Mike with choosing options which hurt the attacker (Movement Thread Disorder in particular) which hurt his offense. The Allies really do not need help in that scenario. Just a bit of troops management skills is needed for our side and a victory is certain.

Thanks to Mike for an enjoyable game! The "Teutonic Tater" is back in action!

(grins at Ernie)

Looking for a Battle of Salamanca next (#126 from WPW) ..... posting on the Opponents Wanted forum after I check with some of my past opponents.
