Gents,
I was wondering what the prefered mode was when playin.

2D or 3D and why.

I would guess that the newer generation would like 3D.

I prefer 2D because I am used to it, playing many board games. I like he top-down view gives a better perspective of the battle situation. But that is me.

Note: I just posted some S&T mags for sale.

I find the 3D harder to use in a practical sense. I used it more during the days of Talonsoft's Battleground series because of the lovely maps. Now I much prefer the old boardgame style of view.

There are advantages to playing in 3D over 2D in any case where the roads or trails cannot be distinguished easily in the wood terrain. I use the 3D sometimes to check that out.

For Club Games: I prefer the Single Phase mode of play. I prefer to play with the following options OFF:

MDF, VP4LC, NRO, MTD, CMR, PR, MIM, NDM, OMR (ver 4.07)

Both.

Close 2d to help find roads in woods, etc.

Extreme 2d with Highlight Movement on to make sure I've moved everyone.

Close 3d because I'm a miniature player at heart.

Extreme 3d so that if I ever figure out how to screen shot. :frenchlol:

I use both. 2D for maneuvers, and 3D when the action starts!

There are lot of 3D goodies added lately. You have the new units in Waterloo, and the existing units now mysteriously fit the bases better in Leipzig, Bautzen, 1814 and BPW... plus an English Channel invasion barge-load of other tweaks. And somebody I know spent way too much time making new Chateaus...

Nicholas that looks great!

I used to only use 3D, but lately I mostly do 2D with 3D when I need to see something specific or to get a better handle on facing.

Predominantly 2d for me, it's just so much easier to see what's going on.

That said, the new 3d stuff is so gosh darned pretty that I find myself zooming in more and more just to look at it.

I prefer 2D, easier to see what I have to work with. But both views do not help with brown roads in a brown forest hex. Per chance maybe roads could be a bright red or pulsating psychedelic color? My eyes are not what they used to be in my youth. For that matter, not much of me is...

most of the bmp files in the "map" folder are very easy to change if you have a "paint" program. The "paint" program comes with all computers.

the road and main bmp are super easy to change and its kinda fun to do.

remember to save existing bmp to a new folder before changing anything.

failing that........send me an email and I will send you "road" files I use.

For me, it's 2D for movement then 3D for combat.

Awesome work Nick!! :frenchhappy:

I use 3D. Very rarely, if it's a huge map, I use 2D for some things.
