I had to reinstall my Bautzen game. First I installed the 1.0 msi file and then I applied the 4.06 update.

Unfortunately when I start a scenario a message is shown "Error reading scenario file". All scenario's seem to have this problem.

Then I copied an old backup of this game to my hard disc (version 1.04a) and upgraded that version to 4.06 which didn't give me this problem.

There seems to be an issue with directly upgrading the game from 1.0 to 4.06.

Could be, I assume 1.0 was a JTS version?
Maybe the latest WDS patch misses something, or maybe the folder restructuring process didn't work for any reason.
I recommend everyone to download the latest installer from WDS for all the games that are not 4.0 or later.

That is correct Christian it was the 1.0 version from JTS. I contacted Wargame Design Studio and they have sent me a link to download the 4.06 version directly.

Marco, if you downloaded the new installer from WDS you do not need to run the update. I recommend you uninstall the game and reinstall with WDS installer you can get by being logged in at WDS.

Hi Ed,

I helped with playtesting some of the Napoleonic games in the past and unfortunately these games were not in my Order History list.
WDS has fixed it for me.

Glad to hear it Marco. They will give you a SN for it. They did for me when I was a SN for a game I had play tested.

Way to go, Marco! I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondered if you were up for a game. I was thinking of playing something from Campaign Bautzen so if that sounds good to you let me know by email.

Glad you are up and running with Bautzen.

Hi Alexey - no, I prefer to wait until an update has been released and then I check it out thoroughly before I start using it for my games.

I just got the Leipzig, Eckmuhl and Wagram 4.07 updates from Rich today so I will be looking over those to see what has changed. I liked what I saw in the Change Log. I just need to check the VPs for Leader Casualties rule and see how the change has affected the VP count before I go back to using that rule.

For now we are good with what 4.06 offers.

I am hoping that that update gets another month at least of testing before it it released. I have waited this long for it. Another month of testing by the team (and myself) will be good for the entire community. No need to rush this update. And this is not a "Test Game" so we will continue with the current update.

Too many good things in the 4.07 update to mention.

I am still working on my Eckmuhl Retro update that will be applied after the 4.07 update comes out. The only thing I am trying to figure out is how to limit the Mounted Cavalry fire. More on that later. A lot of us do not like mounted cavalry firing as it uses up Supply Wagon points AND the unit can become NO AMMO/LOW AMMO and really that has no bearing on the use of cavalry in this period. Cavalry relied on their swords or pikes not on pistols and carbines. An Austrian battalion tossed down its muskets during the Ulm Campaign because it ran out of ammunition. You would never find that in any Napoleonic history book unless I am mistaken.

Bottom line: Mounted Cavalry fire should be an option, not a default feature. Its already part of the melee outcome in that the casualties we see are partly from pistol fire. An Austrian cavalry regiment once decided to receive a charge, fired its weapons and was carried away by the attacking French. Pretty much gives you some idea how ineffective mounted fire was.

Understood.
Just watch out guys for the first battle of Altenburg if you take this route.
The Russian army does not have any wagons. Probably missed out when the Camapign was built.

I realised this now on Turn 16.
Not sure what can be done here :?:
Wondering if other scenarious will have the same issue.

Alexey - anything like that (the missing wagons) should be brought to Rich Hamilton's attention. Rich will make sure that that is taken care of. My apologies for having that happen. We missed it during production and it just never has been caught I am guessing.

WDS will be fixing it in 4.07.
Meanwhile, they can provide a quick pre-release fix if you contact them.
