Fishing Boats at Sunset by Hendrik Willem Mesdag

Having returned from a diplomatic tour of the South Pacific with Baron van der Capellen, I'm happy to see all the fine battles being waged by Coalition officers against the Little Corporal!

Given some time and fine drinks I seized from our journey, I shall get caught up on all the correspondence & notices. Sadly the Prinz von Dennewitz' lemonade is not available yet, owing to the fact he's had to deal with some raucous parties at the East Prussian Hunting Lodge! I think Sir Muddy's horse was seen in some of the outbuildings....

Thanks!

Welcome back Sir, congratulations on surviving the privations of sea travel. Aside from sea creatures, ships, sailors and all that salt water I'm partial to cruise myself.

The rum helps, of course!

One of the more salubrious hostelries in my home town, well named indeed!

Thanks Bill! That was tasty. Actually couldn't find lemonade or iced tea on the trip, except for Fuze tea, which worked. Other drinks were great though, especially the coffee, which the lady liked a lot!

I'll have to put a few relevant images up.

Nice Mike!! If I ever get your way, will certainly have to check it out. I have pictures from 2019 in Sydney of both the Lord Nelson and the Hero of Waterloo taverns. I'll have to find them and post 'em. Very cool stops. :frenchsalute:

You'd be very welcome Scott :)

Cardiff used to have a pub called The Retreat which had a sign showing the retreat from Moscow. Perhaps unsurprisingly its closed now, retreating through the freezing snow being harried by Cossacks isn't the image folks want when considering where to go for a quiet drink after work!

Not exactly on topic, but here's something I did in Auckland a couple of months ago.

I'm the tall one with all the hair.

Didn't find The Lord Nelson, but the beer and the grub I had at a couple of pubs on Nelson St was more than adequate.
