![]() Several Orders of the British Crown for Andy Moss By His Majesty, George the Third, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Arch-Treasurer and Prince-Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, His Royal Highness George, Prince of Wales, Regent of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Army Commander (AC) Field Marshal Sir "Lucky" Jim Hall, 1st Duke of York & Albany K.G. For greatness on the field of battle against La Grande Armée and for longevity in service to the Allied Coalition, the Anglo-Allied Army (AAA) and George III, King of Great Britain and Ireland, we do hereby honor: ![]() Field Marshal Sir Andrew Moss, 1st Duke of Wellington K.T. Commander-in-Chief (CiC) of the Allied Coalition Army Chief of Staff (CoS) of the Anglo-Allied Army (AAA) Kommandeur der Braunschweigischens Korps (Commander of the Brunswick Corps) Honorary Command: 3rd Squadron of the 1st Regiment of Life Guards, Household Cavalry Brigade With the below Orders of the British Crown for his tenureship, service and unwavering leadership as the Commander-in-Chief (CiC) of the Allied Coalition. Having initially joined the Imperial Russian Army almost 25 years ago, he transferred to the Anglo-Allied Army (AAA) and has served in many capacities & commands over the years including his current positions as Army Chief of Staff (CoS) and Kommandeur der Braunschweigischens Korps (Commander of the Brunswick Corps). He has also served as a Training Instructor across the whole Allied Coalition for well over 10 years and in this service has trained dozens of Coalition Officers regardless of the army they joined. From 2010 until recently he served as the Academy Commander of the Royal Military Academy (RMA) & Koninklijke Militaire Academie (KMA). Further with conspicuous gallantry on the field of battle, having played over 500 battles (including hundreds of maneuver games), with 221 victories out of some 300 battles against French officers and leading the Club in both OBD Points (18,571) & Victory Points (383). And with friendship, encouragement & fellowship shown to all sides of the conflict when posting in the Rhine Tavern, he is often seen celebrating the achievements of others, all while bestowing the highest honor to the Crown and providing a supreme example of the best standards for an officer not only in His Majesty's service but across the whole Coalition & Club. We do hereby decree, With Royal Assent and Issued at the Court of St. James, the awarding of: The Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath Companion Breast Badge (CB) ![]() and The Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath Knight Commander Neck Badge (KCB) ![]() and The Most Noble Order of the Garter Knight Star (KG) ![]() Signed at Brussels, with Notices Issued in London, and in the capitals of all Coalition nations, on this 2nd day of November, the 10th Anniversary of his appointment, of the current year, ![]() ![]() ![]() Over the years with Andy's steady hand at the helm, the Allied Coalition has risen from 78 officers to 139. With diligent planning, thoughtful insight, and fair & honest commentary Andy has led and participates in almost every aspect of internal Coalition and Club Staff discussions. His impartiality and even-keeled personality have been the key to our shared success! (A healthy dose of wine, time off touring the vineyards of the Loire Valley and a whole arsenal of Hedonators always help too! ![]() Andy of course likes to play the games, a lot! He often has them going off the books, as well as many registered ones. He's played at the Blitz for years there working side by side with Chad (Compass Rose) overseeing the Black Powder & Cold Steel section of their operations. He's also been a playtester for over half of the WDS Napoleonic Series. I can't recall when I first started working with Andy or when my first email to him might have been. Probably at the former iNWC where he & I were members as well. I do know that it has been a correspondence that has spanned over 15 years or more and has had many memorable stories told in them. I think it is safe to say that Andy has probably played over 1,000 games between the ones on and the ones off the books. He's also been awarded almost every medal, award and honor in the AAA! In recent years he has played a lot of the Peninsular War games and is one victory away from being awarded the Cruz de Oro de la Península! In his many years as Academy Commander and a Training Instructor, Andy shared with new recruits his years of extensive expertise and indepth knowledge of the games. Like Mike Davies, when it comes to the Rhine Tavern, Andy is often a part of both the fun & celebrations and also lending suggestions, advice & feedback to others. The Coalition and the Club would not be where we are today, and possibly not exist at all, without Andy's guidance & participation! We all have benefited greatly from his leadership! I am delighted to present Andy with these honors on behalf of the commanders of the various Coalition Armies, as well as the Club Staff! Andy is only the 7th AAA officer in the Club's history to be invested into the Order of the Garter! Three cheers for Field Marshal Sir Andrew Moss, 1st Duke of Wellington K.G.!! Let us celebrate with all the Hedonators one can drink!! (Sixteen troughs for Sir Muddy's Horse! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Andy, I often think that instead of playing these games I could have spent the time as a used car salesman and retired with lots of money in the bank by now! ![]() But then I pinch myself back to reality. ![]() Its been a great time in the club. While I seem to have exhausted my interest in playing them again, its wonderful to see you and others keeping this club on the map! Thanks for all you do. ![]() |
