Captain David McMillan, <salute>

It is with great pleasure that I read the latest dispatches from the Peninsular Corps and note your well-deserved Beförderung (promotion).

To rise to the rank of Hauptmann in such a distinguished regiment as the 87th "Prince of Wales' Own Irish" is no small feat. We in the Austrian service have heard rumors of the fighting spirit of the Irish—a veritable Kampfgeist (fighting spirit) that strikes terror into the French columns.

Leading a company is the heart of command. You are now the father to your men and the tip of the spear for your General. It is a heavy burden, but one I am certain you will carry with the Stolz (pride) typical of your uniform.

While we fight on the Danube, we raise a glass of Schnapps in your honor, though I imagine you might prefer a good Irish Whiskey to celebrate the occasion.

Keep driving the French back across the Pyrenees. Gut gemacht! (Well done!)
