Captain David McMillan, <salute> It is with great pleasure that I read the latest dispatches from the Peninsular Corps and note your well-deserved *Beförderung* (promotion). To rise to the rank of *Hauptmann* in such a distinguished regiment as the 87th "Prince of Wales' Own Irish" is no small feat. We in the Austrian service have heard rumors of the fighting spirit of the Irish—a veritable *Kampfgeist* (fighting spirit) that strikes terror into the French columns. Leading a company is the heart of command. You are now the father to your men and the tip of the spear for your General. It is a heavy burden, but one I am certain you will carry with the *Stolz* (pride) typical of your uniform. While we fight on the Danube, we raise a glass of *Schnapps* in your honor, though I imagine you might prefer a good Irish Whiskey to celebrate the occasion. Keep driving the French back across the Pyrenees. *Gut gemacht!* (Well done!)
