Monsieur le Sous-Lieutenant Greg Schipp. It is my duty to extend a formal Willkommen (welcome) to the Club and to the front lines. I note your commission into the 12ème Compagnie du 5ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Pied. While the cavalry may capture the glory, we all know it is the heavy guns that dictate the Schlacht (battle). You are now the hammer of the IV Corps. However, a word of advice from the Imperial lines: Foot artillery requires great Geduld (patience) and nerves of steel. Unlike your colleagues in the horse batteries, you cannot simply gallop away when the tide turns. When you unlimber your guns against the Austrian standard, be prepared to stand your ground. Our batteries are eager to engage in a duel of Eisen (iron) and fire with you. Let us see whose calculations are more precise when the smoke clears. Check your fuses and prepare your canister. Auf ein ehrenvolles Gefecht! |
