Post subject:  Running NiR demo

Hello Gents,

I am not into computers and experiencing a small IT problem
Hopefully I will receive 6 HPS/Talonsoft games in a near future and will join one of the armies. But meanwhile I downloaded a demo from NiR project website and ….. oh no…

I get "16-bit windows subsystem" "The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOD and microsoft Windows applications" !!!!

I tried to search the internet and found this site: http://fly.hiwaay.net/~tiller/html/program.html
Unzipped it into NiR directory and … no use. Then tried this: http://fly.hiwaay.net/~tiller/html/program.html (Rich’s Hamilton Battleground Patches)
No change.

Please advise how to fix it.
Thanks guys.

I don't know what you downloaded from the NIR project, but I doubt that it was an actual DEMO of the GAME NIR, but a demo of the NIR PROJECT.

You have to have the original game, NIR, in order to play the demo, with the patches and 32 bit upgrade applied.

The 2 sites you mentioned ARE the correct places to get the game patches and the 32 bit upgrade.

Very weird, the file looks like an ordinary demo and seems to have all the files.
Oh well, I will have to wait then.
Thanks for consultation.

I have tried this demo on my computer yesterday (laptop with XP) and it worked fine. The demo is NiR(16bit version of the game). I didn't apply any patch and just played around for two turns. It is funny to see the changes from that version to what we use now. [:)]

Tried it on my mate's computer yesterday and it worked find. It is NiR demo!!

Now I am a bit worried. It would be shocking to have original NiR and PTW, which I am about to recieve and wont be able to run them on my computer.
It seems like somthing to do with my settings.
Does anyone have an idea what it might be??

I ve got:
Celeron 2400
Win 2000
NVIDIA GeForce 5200
