Post subject: Campaign Waterloo Challenge

Helga, a round of schnapps for the House, s'il vous plait!

After years of knocking heads with Sir Muddy, he has graciously consented to team up with this old grognard so that I can experience the pleasure of commanding the Prussians on the fields of Belgium[8D]. Is there a stalwart pair of French officers ready to take the field against us[;)]?

The grounds for this challenge will be the "Waterloo Large Campaign - no units fixed" "campaign" game which leads to a single, 300+ turn battle. The MOE3 house rules will be used with one minor change: Assaults on hexes containing only skirmishers will not count as a "melee" for purposes of the "embedded melee" rules, regardless of the number of men stacked in the hex.

Those interested should send their courier to my HQ at their earliest convenience.

Regards,

Paco

If I may suggest...you might want to consider the modified version of that scenario included in the Expansion Package - add's a nice twist to it IMHO.

Sir,

I would be interested as one of the French Officers. A courier has been sent to your HQ.

I could be tempted. I'm just trying to find a partner for what is clearly a game of mixed doubles.

Rich,

I had previously installed the Expansion Package, but I'm not sure how to apply your expanded OOBs to the Campaign game.

Do I have to go into the scenarios and cross-reference the new OOBs or did you create a whole new "campaign" scenario that comes up in the menu? I noticed that when I choose the "Wide Campaign" variant I have a choice between "Waterloo Large Campaign no units fixed" and "The Waterloo Campaign Begins". Is one of these your expanded campaign?

Paco

Paco,

(e-mail on the way too)

All the work is done...the expansion scenarios were added to the list at the bottom. Just scroll down to scenario # 061.Hypo_v12.scn and you will see the modified full map battle. I think this is a better scenario...the French have a good bit more troops to contest the Allies with, though they get new forces too. And with the way the troops arrive it promises to utilize the bulk of the map in the fighting.

The one right below it is a modified version of the Waterloo_Wavre battles, adding in the extra troops too.

I did not include any expansion package files in a Campaign format though, but it is possible to do it. The way the oob's are structured they can be swapped out for existing ones in any scenario, then just go into the editor and add in the extra troops. A lot of work, so I skipped it, but it is possible to do.

Regards,
Rich

Rich
How many extra troops on each side? I've had a look at the scenario, but adding units across a number of very widely spaced entry hexes is a bit of a drag.

Neville,

Look at scenario 072.OOB Review, and you will see all the forces laid out in a manner to facilitate breaking up forces by strength, command etc. The expansion package forces are at the end of each Army structure.

I created this scenario to assist with MP game planning, scenario design, etc.

Rich
