Seems to have written several books on the French army recently. Anyone know the guy? Are the books any good? Readable? Thanks.

Right. Well, what do you think of them?

I didn't have a chance to read the dictionaries but I did read La Grande Armee and it was a good reading but of course I don't know what you are looking for.

Simply if these are well-researched, informative, reasonably well-written books. I hate buying books that disappoint me, so I usually go with recommendations. It was his new (2005) book on the Guard that attracted my interest, and I thought that someone might know his older books and would recommend them--or not. Thanks.

He is a serious guy. The napoleonic era is his main subject of interest.

You cam look at the review from www.napoleon.org about it:

http://www.napoleon.org/fr/magazine/vie ... r_2005.asp
