Hi folks, it has been quite some time now since I have last walked the glorious fields of Napoleonic Wars Gaming club.

Which games are currently in vogue? are you guys still using Talon Soft or have you all moved on.

Its still the same. The John Tiller games are it for now, but we all have high hopes for <b><font color="orange">Histwar: Les Grognards</font id="orange"></b>.

For information about it, go here:

In the meantime, check out these screenshots:

All in all, its pretty darn exciting aabruzzese. The game will be released this year with the Demo being released when the game goes Gold.

Shouldn't that be:

<b><font size="4"><font color="orange">Napoleonics über alles!!! </font id="orange"></font id="size4"></b>[:p]

The fancy 3D mthod is not the only way to play the game.

There is the symbolic 3D method and even a 2D method.

Here is the 2D method to play the game where your imagination will know no bounds.

Yes we are still going. [:)]

Why not consider Prussia!! [:D]

<b>The New Blue is Black!!

New Officers Both Recruits and Returning</b>

For all ages of these lands stand the prominent one of them all. I speak of Prussia. The Prussian Armee is one of the best chances to make something of yourself in this club or a cool place to relax and disappear from the masses and have some fun if that is your style. We are a low key force that tries to have fun and encourage good gamesmanship and positive additude. We don't require you to be constantly playing games as some Armies. We don't pester you every month with musters. We don't wipe your existence in the Armee and club away like most of the others if you leave. We offer one of the best medals and promotions system. Not unweildy rank points nor medals based solely on victories. Our medals are exstensive and easy to get, but also a fun challenge. We also have plenty of openings and room for growth.

So if you want a nice little place to have some fun, relax, play games check us out.

Who knows maybe you will be the next Blucher, the <b>only</b> man who was never afraid of old Boney!!

You know what they say. Once you go black you never got back!!

Besides we played a major part in 2 of Napoleon's 3 defeats!!

<i>"To advance was impossible, to stay where we were meant certain death, and with our goal so near everyone preferred death to retreat. Our difficulty and danger were growing all the time. Eventually Gaseback [Friccius' adjutant] found a weak place in the wall, to the right between the gate posts and the poor-house. I grabbed the rifle of the nearest Landwehr soldier and battered in the thin wall with the butt. It soon collapsed, beaus several of the men gave us vigorous help. As soon as the opening was large enough, I jumped through the breach and shouted to my troops, 'You won't abandon me, will you??'

On hearing my call, Captain Motherby leaped to the front and holding up his sword called out, 'Comrades, follow me'!!"</i>

Thus was the brave words men of the 3rd Landwehr Regiment!! All up and down the lines our great GFM was heard to have said: Vorwärts meine Kinder!! That day, that famous day at Liepzig!! General Vorwärts carried his undying quest of Honor and Glory to crush the little corporal!! General Vorwärts would carry the day time and time again!! Fearing nothing and no man!! Death Looked him in the face and he Laughed!!

Vorwärts Meine Kinder!! Vorwärts!!

Angelo: good to hear from you again. Lots of things going on in game design. John Tiller who programmed the Talonsoft games has moved on to work with Scott Hamilton of HPS Simulations and has put out four games in the Napoleonic field with more to come.

Here is a link to the site:

www.hpssims.com

I helped him put out two of the titles and Charlie Cutshall did the other two with Rich Hamilton's help on Waterloo.

We have plans to do many more titles in this era.

Strategy Zone Online has a scenario/artwork download area at:

http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forum ... =cat&id=90

You may remember the NIR Project headed by Jean-Marie Barbier which used the NIR game as the basis for more battles. They have put out a ton of materials since you last checked in.

http://www.nir-project.com/

Stephane Chircouri hosts the Cobexlaw website which uses Eckmuhl as the basis for tons of add on materials.

http://www.cobexlaw.com/wargame/tnw/tnw.htm

There are at least two other producers out there trying to put together a Napoleonic game. Rick mentions one of them but there is also the guys at Double Shot Design who are working through Matrix Games to release Black Powder Wars. They are working on a basic game engine which will then be followed by a campaign game engine. Lots of materials will be added to both. You can read about their game and get links to screenshots at:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=186

So you chose a good time to return. Lots of good things coming down the pike. Once the games come out the club will look over the titles and determine how they fit in and probably add them in.

So pick a uniform and get back into the fighting. Your Talonsoft games are still welcome here.

Regarding that screenshot of French massed columns, a zoom-out gives the bigger picture.

....That sceene has about 12,000 men in it (about 1,200 3D models).

Seems like the hardcore members are still alive and kicking, those screenshots look great. I may have to reinstall all my BG series or perhaps get to the HPS game, one thing I would love to see is a Napoleonic Wars style of game that would look like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft 3.

Imagine moving around the game in small squad size or line up in formation and play real time as one of the soldiers, that would be awesome.

But until then I guess it is back to the 6lb Gun zone.

Oh wait a minute. I forgot one.

This one is of the Italian Guard as it marches towards Borodino.

The game is definitely in beta testing and more news will be released as I get a hold of it.

Enjoy.

Rick
