Officers of the Grande Armée,
I am proud to share with you the advancements that the Grande Armée & the NWC has made since 25th June 2022.
The Grande Armée continued to advance in this second half of 2022 and work has been finished on a new webpage, a new award series and we introduced nobility titles along with another a new webpage.
The new webpage is called "Régiments Français en Détail (French Regiments in Detail)" and collects information as well as links about the units of the Grande Armée, this enables members to take a closer look at the units they command to make themselves more familiar with their unit. Everyone should make familiarize themselves with the unit he commands, it usually opens up possibilities of using flags, mottos, etc..
The new award series is called "Aigle Impérial", it currently has three versions(bronze, silver & gold) and recognizes the time an officer was active in the Grande Armée according to the data collected in the DOR. As the DOR didn't went active before 2010 we now have only awarded the bronze version, it stands for 5 years of active service while silver stands for 15 and gold for 25 years. This allows to see the true active members and recognize their constant mustering to stay active in the Grande Armée.
The nobility titles, found on the new webpage "Noblesse d'Empire (Nobility of the Empire)", are a very special thing as they are dedicated to actions that can also lay outside of the club. The titles are given to those who contribute in a way that improves the games that the NWC supports. This is achieved by giving substantial feedback, modding the games or having officially worked on such a game.
Now to the inner workings of the Grande Armée. By expanding the amount of trainers we were able to work off a good portion of the wast amount of new members who flooded into the Grande Armée in 2020-21. By now we are training members who joined us in the 4th quarter of 2021. While we still have not caught up to recently joined members, the delay has shrunk a lot and we are looking forward to be able to train new members right away once we are nearing the end of 2023.
Last but not least is our clubs beloved core gaming series, the Napoleonic Battles series. Since the first WDS release as 4.0, already with many improvements, this series got a lot attention again this year and went from patch level 4.01 to 4.04. The changes along these levels are not only numerous, too numerous to be listed here, but are in part so important that the introduction of them was a real game changer.
A few of the highlights are:
- the new toolbar & hotkeys that make the series so much easier to handle.
- the replay function that has been give more functions and the most welcomed is a pause function, finally not being nailed in front of the screen for ages is a great addition.
- the graphic overhaul that is not only moving the graphics to a new quality level of art but have also practical changes like leader levels in 2D view that can now be distinguished.
- lets not forget new optional rules as well as adjusted optional rules, all these shift the gameplay to a more historical correct depiction of the Napoleonic Warfare like we know it from historical sources.
And there are many more changes that improve the series in almost all aspects and by this making it so much more accessible and raised its playability. It's not only a joy for new players to jump into it but also for veterans to dust off their coat and join the battle again.

Following is a list of noteworthy occurrences of our officer corps since the 25th June 2022.
Inactive officers returning
Chef de Bataillon Dirk Schulze was reactivated on 14th August 2022, he was assigned to the 8ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne in the 1er Corps d'Armée.
New officers
Sous-Lieutenant Timothy Sproull joined our ranks on on 4th October 2022, he was assigned to the 1ère Compagnie du 8ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Pied in the 1er Corps d'Armée.
Sous-Lieutenant Derick Yew joined our ranks on on 4th October 2022, he was assigned to the 2ème Compagnie du 7ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Pied in the 3ème Corps d'Armée.
Sous-Lieutenant James Grcevich joined our ranks on on 28th September 2022, he was assigned to the 4ème Compagnie du 2ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Cheval(Demi-Batterie) in the Réserve de Cavalerie.
Sous-Lieutenant Renaud Dupre de Boulois joined our ranks on on 21st September 2022, he was assigned to the 1ère Compagnie du 7ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Pied in the 5ème Corps d'Armée.
Sous-Lieutenant James Holloway joined our ranks on on 17th September 2022, he was assigned to the 2ème Compagnie du 8ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Pied in the 1er Corps d'Armée.
Sous-Lieutenant Sergio Porres joined our ranks on on 31st July 2022, he was assigned to the 3ème Compagnie du 3ème Régiment d'Artillerie à Cheval in the 1er Corps d'Armée.
Nobility Titles
Having contributed to the foundation and sheer existence of the NWC Capitaine Nicholas Ferry was granted the title of Prince de Bénévent on 3rd October 2022.
Having contributed to the foundation and sheer existence of the NWC Maréchal d'Empire Richard Hamilton was granted the title of Prince de la Moskowa on 3rd October 2022.
Having giving extensive feedback extensive feedback to improve the Napoleonic Battles game series Général Christian Hecht was granted the title of Chevalier de l'Empire on 3rd October 2022.
Awards
Général Christian Hecht received the Légion d'honneur 4 on 11th November 2022 for passing 1100 Administrative Points.
Maréchal Francisco Palomo received the Légion d'honneur 2 on 11th September 2022 for passing 450 Administrative Points.
Maréchal Dominik Derwiński received the Légion d'honneur 1 on 11th September 2022 for passing 200 Administrative Points.
Général Mark Oakford received the Légion d'honneur 2 on 5th August 2022 for passing 450 Administrative Points.
Maréchal Paul Chavis received the Légion d'honneur 2 on 5th August 2022 1 for passing 450 Administrative Points.
All members with more than 5 years of active time according to the DOR received the Aigle impérial en bronze on 23rd July 2022
Promotions
Having gained enough OBD points then Sous-Lieutenant Rubén Moreno was promoted to Lieutenant on 19th November 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Lieutenant Drew Franz was promoted to Capitaine on 19th November 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Sous-Lieutenant Tony Butcher was promoted to Lieutenant on 13th November 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Chef de Bataillon Dean Webster was promoted to Major on 17th October 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Sous-Lieutenant Piotr Ośko was promoted to Lieutenant on 19th September 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Lieutenant Nicholas Ferry was promoted to Capitaine on 27th July 2022.
Having gained enough OBD points then Sous-Lieutenant Gabriel Rodriguez was promoted to Lieutenant on 18th July 2022.
