The Revolution is over. I am the Revolution.

In 1804, when crowning himself Emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte told the French people that his ascension was the fulfillment of the Revolution which had begun 15 years earlier. But how did we get from Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, a Bourbon-Habsburg union, cavorting in palaces and talking about eating cake, to some upstart Corsican artillery officer waging war against the entirety of Europe, and doing an awfully fine job of it?

In the Revolutions Podcast, Mike Duncan explores the history of various Revolutions. Season 3 covers the French Revolution and is one of the finest history podcasts I've ever listened to. 55 episodes, around 25 hours of material, takes listeners from the build up of civil unrest that led to the fall of the Bastille, the imprisonment and later regicide of the royal family, the many attempts at provisional governments, the various Terrors and the guillotining of anyone and everyone, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Mr. Duncan, whose previous work includes the History of Rome Podcast, is an engaging storyteller who shares a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

Index of all episodes is here: http://www.sal.wisc.edu/~jwp/revolution ... index.html
It's also on Spotify, Apple, Podcast Addict, Google Play, etc.

This first two series, covering the English Civil War and AWI, aren't the best. I don't think he really hit his stride until the French Revolution, and then he goes from 15-16 episode series to 55 covering that, so it seems like he really enjoyed getting into that material. I've just started on the July Revolution to see how the restored Bourbons fare.

Thanks!
Downloaded the episodes and my mp3 player shows me a length of a little over 32 hours, that is a LOT!
