You're going to need to update the scenarios because you're disordering units in obstructed hexes now.

Plus- I just lost two guns by an attack of 40 cavalrymen-

Who also wiped out hundreds of skirmishers.

and I have an artillery unit, miles away from the enemy, which disrupted in a town using column movement and has been disorder for TEN TURNS now despite having the head of the army on it, the divisional commander, and its brigade commander.

If you're going to disorder units for moving through obstructed hexes, then they need to regain order fairly quickly or else you make playing these games impossible.

Other that that, I basically agree with the attempt to do what you're doing.

In part that comes from the new OR "Column Movement Restriction", but AFAIK this mechanic is not total new although it was expanded with recent patches, check "5.2.5 Obstructed Terrain and Hexsides" in the manual for details.

Note, there were 2 fixes in the latest patch:
• Fix for Defender melee casualty calculation.
• Fix for melee and firing modifiers not being applied correctly.
So it may look like too much but before that it didn't work like intended.

That sounds indeed strange, did you move it out of the hex were it disordered?
Otherwise it is either a bug or unbelievable bad luck.

I generally really like the upgrades.

For instance, skirmishers take much heavier casualties now when assaulted by formed infantry in column.

also, it is reasonable that obstructed hexes should disorder formed units.

But they need to be able to regain order quicker. and that would have to be a big problem for programmers, I would think.

anyway, just passing on my observations as I play using the newest upgrades.

I really like the idea of splitting the melee phase from the movement and shooting phase.

Less blitzkrieg and more having to carefully plan out your attacks- IMHO, much more accurate.

Yes. I had several units disordered in the same turn when using road movement as a division.

Somehow they got themselves disordered.

the two infantry units, both D, took about six turns to regain order.

I'm still trying to get that artillery unit back. It was a B.

I don't know if it can be programmed in, but units that lose good order well away from the enemy should regain order within a turn or two.

I totally understand a unit being disordered in combat and taking hours to reform.
