Scenarios
Kansas City Blues
A series of three related Scenarios by Rich Link based on a hypothetical invasion of the United States (a "Red Dawn") and Canada.
Background:
It is 1989. In a surprise attack the Sino-Soviet Bloc have invaded Canada through Alaska, and is driving down into the middle of the U.S. attempting to cut the Country in two. Armored Spearheads, preceded by massive long range Parachute drops have captured key Cities and Airports, allowing heavy units to be air transported over the oceans as reinforcements. With the bulk of the US Army stationed in Europe and Korea, it remains to the few regular Divisions in the United States to stem the Red Tide as the Country Mobilizes. Supported by the National Guard and Patriot Militia, the handful of Regulars begins the long battle to reclaim America.
The Games:
It would be more interesting to play the scenarios in this order.
"Kansas City" is the first of three related scenarios based on the Kansas Map shipped with the Game. It is designed as a Blue human player against a Red AI opponent only. It can be played by two human players, but I doubt if it will be much fun for the Blue side. Following the instructions and unit setup locations in the OPORD orders, at least for the first playing of each Scenario, is advisable.
"Leavenworth" is the follow on Scenario, based on a Blue Victory in the first Game. It can be played from either side. Both sides should review the OPORD orders with a view to the off board assets and their arrival times.
"The Bear Cornered" is the last of these related scenarios and may be played from either side.
I have made some attempt to " Balance " the Scenarios, although " real warfare" is rarely " Balanced " a skilled player, familiar with the Program, should be able to win playing either side. Players should feel free to alter C&C and Supply Sources of their units at Set Up ( Turn 0 ) according to their Battle Plan. If you are new to the Game, playing the Blackhorse Scenario that shipped with it would be a good introduction. I have made an attempt to conform to the late 1990 naming conventions of both US Army and Soviet Army TOE`s in the units and their attachments to parent units.
