Current Western Theater Headquarters' Flag

The Western Theater HQ flag during the vacant command of the Theater.
It is designed by the Chief of the Armies (CoA) General Scott Ludwig.
The need to change the flag came after the merging of the armies into one army for the Theater.
It is based off of General Ludwig's CoA flag & uses the Third National Flag as the template.
Instead of the red at the end it is turned to blue to match the use of General Richard Taylor's flag
from the actual war, which is in the upper left corner, instead of the CSA Battle Flag.
General Ludwig has always liked General Richard Taylor & was always fond of Mort Künstler's
painting about Taylor titled "Confederate Winter" which depicted General Taylor
at Chester's Gap, Virginia, March 1862.

Flag designed by Gen Scott Ludwig and dedicated on 04 Augustr 2015

Past Western Theater Headquarters' Flag

The Western Theater HQ flag under the second command of Lt General Scott Ludwig.
The flag's background is the "stainless" white flag used previous.  The flag has components from the
two armies in the Western Theater. The Army of Alabama and the Army of the Mississippi.
This is shown in the upper left corner that has the red crimson cross of St. Andrew from the State of
Alabama's flag representing that army. Placed over it is the Great Seal of the State of Mississippi,
to represent that army.  The blue cross and the stars represent the cross of St. George from the
Sovereignty or Secession Flag. Finally in the upper right is the Battle Flag turned upwards to represent
the Confederacy as a whole and the mixture of various flags used during the War.

Flag designed by Lt Gen Scott Ludwig and dedicated on 25 November 2011
