Gazette de l’Armée du Nord

General Report

Polish Order Virtuti Militari Eagle

I would first like to specially recognize the twelve officers who led the Grande Armée’s advance into the 2nd Round of the MOE II Tournament: Maréchal John Mitchell and Colonel Tony Bovo (IC); Lieutenant Paul Pratt (IIC); GdDv. Gabriel Rodriguez, Colonel Gregor Morgan, Colonel Ghislain Krygier and Colonel David Guegan (IIIC); GdDv. Bill Peterson, Chef d’Escadron Ramiro Mattin Perez, Capitaine Teodor Papatheodorou and Capitaine Glyn Hargreaves (I Res Cav); Maréchal M. Francisco Palomo (HQ). The AdN’s contingent, with representatives from each of the army’s corps, accounts for over one-third of the contestants in the 2nd Round of the Tournament and exemplifies l’Armée du Nord’s élan.

On a separate note, the chivalry of le Comte de Besançon, GdDv. Peterson, also deserves special recognition. The second spot in GdBg. Peterson’s MOEII bracket came down to the resolution of an extensive series of “tie-breakers” between le Comte de Besançon and the equally chivalrous Colonel Baron Richard Barrett of the Vth Corps, AdR. MG Sir Muddy Jones, the MOEII organizer, was deeply appreciative of the decorous and honorable manner in which both officers co-operated with him to resolve these tiebreakers, exemplifying the best in honorable competition.

The continued expansion of the IIème Corps d' Armee under the steady leadership of the Comte de Suchet, GdeDv. Jensen, and Col. Tom Simmons led to the activation of the 7ème Division d'Infanterie in September '02 under the command of Colonel W. Schulze.
