Hello, everyone.

I am Filipe Costa Albano; a new member to the ACWGC community, from a little archipelago in the middle of the North Atlantic: The Azores. :)

Thanks to a fellow new member on here, whom I've met a few years ago and have become great friends with, I have been getting more and more acquainted (and as a result, more and more interested) in the American Civil War.

I recently finished my BA in History and will be pursuing a MA in Atlantic and Insular History (with a dissertation aimed at insular Religious History). God willing, a PhD will follow. For as much as my degree has not focused on it, I'll admit that Military History remains one of my guilty pleasures, and as a result I quite enjoy wargaming, in its many shapes and forms. (Though, admittedly, my favorite period still remains the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars!)

I thank Mr. Nick Kunz for the warm welcome to the club, and Mr. Tim Reneau for currently training me!

A warm hello to everyone and hoping for many fun battles. :)

Welcome to the Armies of the Confederacy and the ACWGC. It is great to see that a cadet has joined us from the Confederate Azores. Have fun as that is the purpose of our club. If you are more interested in putting the Smurfs to the sword, than the endless parades in and around Richmond, come on over the the Army of Tennessee :mrgreen:

Glad you found us and you certainly are the first officer from the Azores any of us can remember! You chose well thought to joined the Confederate side!

That is very interesting your Masters degree focuses! I think the history of the Atlantic (and it's many islands) is often overlooked. When you mention Insular history, do you mean areas that are territories part of a primary or mother country?
