<br />This is one of the great tragic examples of economic development in our nation. The site of this battle is about 5 miles from my house in Fairfax County, VA. There is a strip mall on the site now with one, maybe two, minor historical markers informing grocery shoppers and movie-goers that over 1,000 Americans died on the site.

Phil,
It is definitely sad. I could smack myself for not mentioning the preservation debacle there in a more prominent way in the review. Places like Chantilly should be protected rather than built over with the latest Starbucks, McDonalds, and a movie theater. Developers who are after the last buck they can possibly make at the expense of historical places anger me greatly.
