Ok, then my previous answer is correct.
There seems to be two possibilities. The remote possibility is a computer virus of the trojan variety that allows a hacker control of your PC. If you have a virus/spyware program, run them just to be certain.
<u>The most likely is a mechanical problem that makes it simpler to replace the drive than mess with it.</u>
New drives are relatively inexpensive and they all are very easy to remove and install.
