I’m doing some scenario design for the War of 1812 and it would be helpful to know some things about supply and artillery fire against a troop landing from ships – both in terms of actual historical values as well as in terms of the game engine. So if you can help, give me some input. I’m not looking for precision just some general relationships or opinions – extra credit if you answer with both fact and wit. Here’s my questions.

In terms of the game engine, on average, how many supply points would be necessary to keep 1,000 men in ammo for 2 hours of battle – 24 turns?

From an historical perspective what was the trade off between supply for artillery compared to that for muskets? What I’m looking for is something like how many pounds(?) of gun powder would it take to supply one canon for an hour compared to how many men that same amount could supply for an hour.

What level of casualties would be expected if a troop landing via ships was conducted while under artillery fire. From the game engine perspective I would assume something like 5 rounds of fire (3 while at sea, 2 while embarking). Probably would incur about 2 casualties for both offensive and defensive fire. So the game engine would suggest 20 casualties per gun in a 25 minute period. Is that realistic?

In the war of 1812, did either side consistently have any issues with adequate supply?
