What logic is used to determine when a battery runs out of ammunition? I just ran into a situation in a 1776 battle where my batteries ran out of ammunition even though I was being careful to hold them in reserve. Once I needed them, they had fallen silent.

A zero (0) in the universal ammo pool displayed under the unit pics says no more arty fire for you.

The scenario has a finite amount of artillery ammo. I do not think there is any logic involved, just if the available ammo for a side is depleted, there is no more artillery fire, whether the guns are limbered or not.
