Ahhh, my inexperience has shown as Brig. Gen. Amos <salute> has made our 2 Fort Sullivan matches quite interesting.

ADF match: After scouting the fort from afar, the 71st Highlanders took the Southeastern corner of the Fort with loss of the Swamp Fox - Major Francis Marion, only to watch in horror as what seemed like thousands of Colonials stormed my SW position and surround me in the SE corner. After intense fighting back and forth with 4 Redcoat Majors going down to fire, the British Provincials haved arrived to try and save the day. At fight now rages that will go to the wire...

MDF match: Playing two identical games can have its downsides as the Americans wise to my plans (not sure why[?]) came storming out of Fort Sullivan... Only 5 turns in and with the entire British force pushed to the brink of massacre at the waters edge, a lone bagpiper from the 71st Highlanders played 'Rule Britannia' and the rage of friends and comrades dying left and right sparked a last ditch bayonet charge... In one fell swoop the 71st Highlanders snatched Major Francis Marion - aka Swamp Fox - and the 7th Royal Fusiliers snatched Maj. Gen. Lee. To early to tell what will happen, but never forget...

Being very aggressive in both scenarios. [:D]

I came out of the forts feeling that setting back would lead to defeat. The beach landing last turn surprised me, and has taken the wind out of my sails. [:(] hehehe.... it saved Paul's behind. [:D][;)][:p]

Looking forward to playing Paul in another set of ADF/MDF scenarios after this one. Perhaps something of a more open filed battle. [:D]

ADF: The Americans are returning to the Fort as the 2nd British landing moves inland...

MDF: The crack Americans hold, even without two leaders and the Swamp Fox, now the British are surrounded again...

"as the Americans wise to my plans (not sure why)" - Paul

That's easy. In the fisrt couple of turns I could see Brits, then they dissappeared. They were closer to the low ground by the water than the woods, so I figured they were sneaking along the water's edge.

Perhaps, leaving a Brit officer (Clinton maybe [;)]) on the high ground a dozen hexes back (so I couldn't snag him in one turn) would've allowed you to keep 'eyes' on my movements [:D], and maybe using one or the other of your forces as a diversion to 'pin' me in the fort, by moving towards the woods in plain view, would've kept me home, too. [:p][;)]

Just a couple of thoughts. [:)]

Thanks Al, I will remember that.

ADF: Well, the Highlanders never retreated from the SE corner of the fort, after holding out for almost the entire game while being surrounded and isolated, the landing parties came to the rescue and have now pushed well into the Fort. And by a stroke of good luck both Col. Moultrie and Maj. Gen. Lee were snatched. So I should be expecting the Union Jack to be flying soon over the fort.

MDF: If the Landing parties do not arrive soon, there may be no British left to fight. Still surrounded and backed up the the waters edge.
