Gentlemen,

Does anyone know of literature or real-world samples
of shot patterns from muskets?

I've always wanted to measure the exact deviations
of, say, 25 or 30 shots fired from a musket at a
specific range - - whether it be 50 feet or some
other known range.

I'm sure this pattern of deviation is likely to vary
from musket to musket, it would be nice to have at least
ONE sample of such a pattern.

Using the basic principles of geometry, it would be
easy to determine the increasing spread or "cone" shot
as distance increased, and to actually measure the
percentage probability that a 100 shot would hit a
body mass (or a linear "rectangle" of body masses) at
various ranges.

Since I'm a little skeptical that anyone has actually
written this up, would anyone actually OWN a musket,
and would be willing to perform this study with 30
shot?

Regards
