In the course of the past month I have noticed Patrick Mullen rising quickly in the ranks. Good for him. I have also noticed he has been involved in several games ending at the mid-point. By my estimate something along the line of 8 of 20.
I posted a remark at the US tavern, advising players not to take the early termination bid from him, so they can learn by playing more turns, and have a chance to turn the victory levels around. IMO, many scenarios in C1776 favor the Brits in the beginning, and many Colonial wins are achieved toward the end. I encouraged our lads to stick it out and play till the end.
I also included a mathematical example how a player can manipulate the clube awarding of points to his advantage to rise rapidly in the ranks.
DO I THINK THIS IS WHAT PAT HAS IN MIND? NO!
He is a bright boy however, and could figure this out on his own. If he was doing this intentionally, NOTHING UNETHICAL or RULE BREAKING in it, then so what? He's a bright boy that found a quick way to gain rank.
I, a bit tongue-in-cheek, asked my fellow Americans to make him earn his rank by playing all the way through games. FOr some unknown reason, whenever I use tongue-in-cheek humor people become offended. *sigh*
It has be drawn to my attention that the cabinet has been asked to intervene. *sigh*
I now understand that Dierk is very upset with me and my statement. *sigh*
Well, I am sorry.
I hereby resign from the club.
I will finish my current games, and my design for le tour.
This is not a pity-party stun.
I resign.
I'll see everyone at TillerCon I.
Now Dierk, please calm down, the problem is solved.
