Someone in another post mentioned the problem of providing for "extended order" with cavalry units.

I had an idea on which I would appreciate some feedback. What if a single cavalry icon in the OOB was divied up into 4 or 5 icons. When a "formation" of these icons got hit, it might "disorder" that one unit, but that would be similar to wounding a few cavalry men, and it would slow them down. But the main body of cavalry could proceed, just as they would in any real charge of movement.

And if the "sub-units" were all named the same thing, it would be difficult for the opponent to target a specific group in an abusing sort of way.

As to the "disordered" stragglers, they could decide whether to continue on behind the main body, or they could return to the lines. I think this would work best with high quality cavalry units.

But I'm interested in comments or discussion about this idea.

Regards,

George
