Yesterday, I picked up a special edition magazine at the local Barnes & Noble. Entitled Great Battles: Turing Points in the American Revolution. It has articles on 10 of the battles. I have read the one on Monmouth and thought it well done. Even I didn't know the Royal Marines were dressed as Nubian slaves prior to the march from Philadelphia -- a whole new vision when playing against a British opponent! Perhaps more interesting was the info about a possible battle at Cranbury, NJ if the Patriots were a little faster or the Brits a little slower.

Certainly a very good reference to someone new to the period.

The magazine is published by the eiditors of Military History and Military History Quarterly. USA price was $5.99.
