A couple of questions about the .pdt files, which specify most of the paramaters in the games, including weapon data.

It appears that almost every scenario has it's own .pdt file. Are there actually differences among them, or are they essentially duplicates?

For 1812 and FIW there is an alternate pdt file -- are both the same? I read the description of this at the Training Center for the War of 1812 file -- written in 2000. Is the alternate pdt file used by people? What are the views about it? Is there one for 1776?

If there are a number of differences among the various pdt files, is there a web site someplace with a summary?

If one wants to create a custom pdt file, can it simply be done with a text editor and used with a scenario in the same way the alternate pdt file can be inserted into a game file?
