Good old American Ingenuity.

For instance, imagine for just a moment that you wanted to get a message from one army to another in a hurry. A smart, self reliant Colonial would simply take a carrier pigeon that he'd trained before hand, tie the message to his leg, and off the message would go.

What would happen if members of the other armies were to try such a thing?

In the British Army, the poor bird would have long since been consigned to being a chew toy for Bartholemew.

On the other hand, the Injuns would have celebrated by plucking the poor bird clean so that they can make a few more arrows.

The French? They would have sliced it open, used the liver to make pate, and thrown the rest of the bird to the pig.

when the time came for those armies to send a vital message, they'd have no chance to match up with American ingenuity.
