I have been studying the Battle of Freeman's Farm for quite some time and am struck by the fact that nobody seems to know or agree on what exactly happened. The accounts disagree quite a lot. I am working on a "Freeman's Farm" scenario for the HPS game and would welcome your comments on the battle. This is a fairly long post with my observations and questions below. If you would rather contact me via email this is fine too, but it might make for an interesting discussion here in the tavern.

DIFFERENCES IN THE ACCOUNTS OF THE BATTLE OF FREEMAN’S FARM

Lt. William Digby:

Digby states that they knew in advance that Morgan’s men were posted about three miles south of the British main positions. The British pickets are ‘pushed back’ just after noon and in this affair every officer but one was killed or wounded. He states the “the line comes upâ€
