I could use one more player, but can accommodate more. If interested send me an email at bob4x4fun(at)comcast(dot)net
As you may be aware from the other post, we have a Tourney in progress using the War of 1812 Game. That Tourney is about to start Round 2, in which the top 12 American-side and top 12 British-side players from Round 1 will compete in one of three groups for a place in the finals.
As part of Round 2, we are also going to have new players or those who missed qualifying also play in a 4th group designated the Forlorn Hope!
We are planning to start December 1. So far for the Forlorn Hope I have the following on my list: (Ideally I would like 8 or more players, but any number will be accommodated).
Commander Gaskel
Commander Kitchen
Chief Durant
Commander Meyers
Chief Noftz
Still time to sign up. An email to me indicating your preference for the American or British side will do it.
More details about the Tourney can be found in the other post or at the web site (which is not completely up to date) -
http://games.homestead.com/1812.htmlIf you scroll down the web page you can see the titles and battlefields for the four Round 2 games – the general description material is not yet published.
Round 2 will consist of playing 4 games against 4 different opponents. The games are played one at a time, are typically 15-20 turns and have averaged 10 weeks to play. The games are modified versions of the standard game scenarios set up as blind scenarios – you only get the game file and a briefing, You only see the details as the game unfolds (or unravels if you are unlucky)!
The 12 qualifiers from each side from Round 1 will be playing for one of 4 expected qualifying spots in the finals (Round 3). The players in the Forlorn Hope are basically going to be playing for local bragging rights – although there is a chance that more then 4 players from each side could qualify for the finals and if that happens the best of those in the Forlorn Hope are also eligible for the finals. Further glory after participating in the Forlorn Hope was always an uncertain event!
So if you want to join the festivities send me an email – bob4x4fun(at)comcast(dot)net – or post a reply – include your email address if you post a reply. You also need to tell me which side you prefer to play.
Requirements are:
-you have the War of 1812 Game and have downloaded the latest updates – Round 2 is not going to start until around November 1, so if you need to obtain a copy of the game there is plenty of time.
-you should expect to play an average of 2 turns per week. The schedule makes provisions for holidays, vacations, and other real life events, but we don’t want too many stragglers.
-you can play either side in the games. You will play the same side in all four games. All games will count as Club battles, even if you should face an opponent from your same club army – although we will attempt to avoid this in the pairings.
The web site is currently focused on Round 1, but I think it will convey the general idea about how things work. If you have questions, either a post to this message or an email should produce the answer.
