Hey guys, sorry for the off-topic post.
Here's the problem. I have an E-Machine with a Intel(R)82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. I have DirectX 9.0 on my machine. Here are some other specs:
Computer Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.60 GHz
2.59Ghz, 1.25GB of RAM.
Windows XP Home Edition.
37.2GB HD.
I have three games that won't run on my computer:
Mall Tycoon2 Deluxe which says it needs 32 DirectX compatible accelerated video card.
Age of Mythology which says it needs 16MB 3D video card.
Caesar IV which says it needs 64 MB video card.
I want to buy Carriers at War from Matrix (a remake of a great game, btw) which says it needs GeForce2 or equivalent graphics card.
I looked online and found ...
EVGA GeForce 7100 GS TurboCache / 128MB GDDR2 / Supporting 256MB with TurboCache / SLI / PCI Express / DVI / VGA / TV Out / Video Card
Delivers Premium Performance at a Valued Price
Value-priced NVIDIA® GeForce® 7100 graphics processing units (GPUs) are loaded with advanced 3D graphic and video features as well as full support for NVIDIA® SLI™ technology and Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0. GeForce 7100 GPUs deliver a premium Microsoft® Windows Vista™ experience, enhanced visual quality, cool gaming effects, and home theater-quality video with NVIDIA® PureVideo™ technology.
... for $49.99.
So here are my questions.
Would this card work for the games?
Would the card plug into my machine?
I assume my graphics card is "plugged" into the motherboard, and it would only be a matter of removing one, and placing in the other then installing the appropriate drivers, correct?
Is this a good price?
I really don't want to get a new PC this year, although there seems to be some nice ones for less than $400 out here in Tulsa. So, I'm wondering if I buy this graphics card, if it would help me get more life out of my machine, and allow me to play some of the newer games out there.
(Tiller's games have an advantage of not being graphically challenging for older machines to run. [;)])
Hoping for some quick answers, please. [:)]
