For a future scenario in the War of 1812 Tournament I would like to do use a blind scenario based on the standard version of the Battle of New Orleans. The club data suggests that the British have dominated the previous games played with a number of Major Victories - it looks to be a pretty straight forward linear battle. I'm looking for some ideas from those who have played the scenario as to how the game might be made more balanced. Ideally in the tournament, I would like half the games to be won by each side.

So if you have played the scenario and have some ideas let me know -- either post to this message of send me an email directly.

From a design perspective, I only want to consider modification to the .scn file itself. I do not want to introduce new .oob, .map, or .pdt files --- the logistics of doing this for a number of matches seems to always create problems for some players. I would consider taking the New Orleans OOB and using a different standard map - ie move the battle to a new location (I think this is easy to do).

If you are not familiar with the scenario editor (and I am not an expert) it will allow you to do things such as:

delete units and leaders from the battle
change the initial deploment of units
fix units in place and create release schedules
remove units and create arrival schedules
reduce the manpower of the units
change the initial fatigue levels
start the units off as disrupted or routed
change the point values of the units
change the time of the battle and its duration
change the victory hexes and the victory conditions
add bridges and breastworks
give a unit boats
