<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="3"><font color="yellow">Good day Gentlemen,
Those of you here in the states know about the holiday today, and hopefully it's significance.
For those of you outside the U.S., today is one of our bigger holidays (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Day.) Unfortunately, most people don't remember the significance of the day. To them, it marks the beginning of the summer season, and engenders visions of parades, hot dogs & burgers on the grill, and going to the beach, but that is NOT what it is really about. Those parades are intended as an honor to the fallen.
In 1992, Country Artist, Billy Ray Cyrus released a song titled "Some Gave All", which sums things up beautifully. If you don't know this song, please try to find it somewhere, and listen. For those of you who, like me, are veterans, I'm sure it will hold a lot of meaning.
SOME GAVE ALL (Billy Ray Cyrus, yup Miley's dad)
I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero yes was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free
I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man
Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died
America can't you see
All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
yes recall
Some gave all</font id="Comic Sans MS"></font id="size3"></font id="yellow">
