Every August, since 1775, the American Army has sponsored a ROAST LOBSTER and clam bake feast during the month on an island off Boston to build morale and thank our French friends for all the gunpowder and Charleville muskets that they have supplied us. The effigy of roasting lobsters creates a merry time for all... young and old alike. Come join us!

This August will be no different except for the fact that each Commander (and their guests) will be provided with double the amount of lobsters as prices are now so low. Normally, we serve 2 each, 4 pounders per person.

American and French Commanders, please let my staff know if you will be attending and how many guests are to be expected.

Date: Saturday, August 31st, 1777

Departure Time: 2:00pm departure from The Green Dragon meeting point and by boat to Castle Island.

Start of Feast: 4:00pm Fireworks at 8pm, then departure back to Boston at 9pm.

Menu:

- Steamers with drawn butter
- Roast Lobsters with drawn butter
- Boston Shrimp
- Littleneck Clams
- Blueberry Salad
- Corn on the Cob
- Swordfish Kebabs
- Fresh mussels steamed in white wine with garlic and herbs
- Red Potatoes
- Fried Onion Rings
- Sweet, Spicy and Linguica Sausage
- Beefsteak on the grill
- Parker House Rolls and Cornbread

- Sam Adams Boston Lager
- Fine French Champagne for desert
- Red Claret

- Desert PIES, PIES, PIES of all types... Blueberry, Strawberry, Mincemeat, etc. (with Boston's best cheddar cheese)
- Cold Vanilla Ice Cream and hot Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce

Departure from Castle Island Back to Boston at 9pm

Welcome, Field Marshall Sands,
May our men salute and welcome you once you are well rested from your journey. Please have our stable hand take care of your horse. Let him know if new shoes might be needed for your mount.

One of our best rooms awaits you in our Fraunces Tavern.

Will you join my executive staff for a high tea at 4pm this afternoon? We would like to hear your ideas for commanding.

We expect to have a great feast, tonight at 8pm in your honor. Will you be bringing your wife or significant other? The menu shall be outstanding:

We hope you will like our surf and turf dish which features the standard 4 lb. lobsters (2 per person) which are stuffed with whole shrimp and scallops and buttery toasted bread crumbs along with our famous grass fed beefsteak of 72 oz. Of course mushrooms and French Fry Potato Sticks, too.

Note that if you finish your entire meal within 90 minutes… you get to keep your colorful tankard emblazoned with our saying “Don’t Tread On Us”… says our barkeep. Many officer already have a dozen or more in their sets! We will also be having many cold bottles of fine French champagne and good claret to wash it all down. Please, do come hungry, Sir.

Oh the vile usurpers of the King's Dominions! You shall be squashed at the hands of the very best in the land. Make haste back to your cowardice hideouts and Fear the King and Pay Your Taxes! :D

After all those taxes go to fund our Annual Pig Roast! :)
