Gentlemen,

My last two opponents resigned from the club, just before my computer's hard drive blew itself up. I am the kiss of death. So two things:

Who wants to play me next and resign his commission halfway through the game?

Since I lost all my info on the forfeited game with Cecil Burke, who do I contact about claiming that hollow victory?

[:D]

From Garry Cope's Club Archive:

SP01491 05/01/03 22: The Battle of Germantown 40

Would you mind emailing me and offer explanation what happened to Cecil?

Thanks in advance,

Okay Bill,

I'll play you! But I don't plan on quitting anytime soon. [:D][:p][;)]

Yeah, that Rat Bastard [;)] got me twice! [B)] But in both cases it was early so I found a replacement player.[:)]

I will never take points from an incomplete game, it is dishonorable for a Mohawk to do so.[:(]

I don't think taking the points for turns played is dishonorable. Personally, I don't claim a victory for abandoned games, unless the outcome was already decided for good, but I know a number of fine gentlemen in this club who don't see a problem with that either. [8)]

Dierk - like you I usually turn in a Draw result but with the turns duly noted. Good point.

The rules were made for the points to compensate the players that play x turns and have the game abandoned. The player has a choice in the matter and sometimes an abandoned game is simply cancelled.

We put time and effort into the game, when we could be playing a more productive and active game vs someone else.

Sometimes the manner of the abandonment matters, if the person that leaves has "reasons", then I would be more inclined to just cancel the game. When someone just doesn't want to play anymore, then the full value allowed might be taken.

It is a personal choice, based on the rules and a members judgement.

Al,

You're on. Would you do the honors of starting the game? I've lost my address book (the one with your current email addy) and am installing/upgrading as I get games going again. Just let me know what title we are playing. I'll register the game oncew we get it going.

Thanks,

The Kiss of Death
