<font size="3"><b><center>AN AMATEUR AFFAIR</center></b></font id="size3">
An individual tournament using the 1812 game is in progress.
The format has evolved over the 7 games, but it is basically a "round robin" affair with players eliminated after 2 Tournament Losses. For a game loss to count as a Tournament Loss the scenario must be determined to be "balanced". However victory levels do determine the rankings of those who are left. So its better to win, but not necessarily a disaster if you lose!
At the start of Game 7 (Round 2 Game 4), the standings are:
Playing American –Blackburn(7 points), Anon Mallory(7), Anon Wilson(6), Wilson(5), Gross(5), Dawson(5), Noftz(5), Mallory(5),Laub(4), Roubaud(3), Bangma(2), Hero of Bunker Hill(Kling)(2), Arndt(0)
Playing British –Natta(10), Cope(10), McDonald(10), Barlow(9), Smith(9), White(8), Kitchen(8), Hargreves(7), Gaskell(6), Burke(6), Kosyanenko(5), Berli(4)
Note: Some players such as Commanders Arndt and Berli have only participated in one battle.
For those of you who are paying close attention to these postings, you would have noticed that this round Commanders Dawson and Noftz switched allegiance to the American side. While it is rumored this was to help the game master to balance the players, it also cleverly improved their individual rankings since "on average" the British players have more points.
The briefings and game files for the Battle of North Point were sent out 7 Jan 2008. As of 9 May 2008, 10 of the 12 contests have been concluded and we anticipate starting the next engagement in early June.

The 36 turn Battle of North Point commenced 7 Jan 2008 with 24 players competing in 12 engagements.

Anon Mallory vs McDonald
Anon Wilson vs Cope
Wilson vs Barlow
Gross vs Paul Smith

****************Round 2 Game 3 ****************************
Game 3 commenced July 5, 2007 with 28 players competing in 14 matches. It ended December 2, 2007.
The What-If Battle of Twenty Mile Creek Woods is being fought on the historical Battle of Longwoods battlefield. This scenario portrays a meeting engagement among the forces that occupied the area in the Winter-Spring of 1814. The immediate objective is the control of the road through the woods. The larger objective is overall glory from a clever victory!
The final results are shown below – American side player listed first:
Bangma vs Hargreaves - Major British Victory
Lord Kingston vs Kosyanenko – Minor American Victory
Meyers vs Smith - Major British Victory
Mallory vs McDonald - Major British Victory
Davenport vs Dawson – Major British Victory
Kling vs Burke – Major British Victory
Anon Mallory vs Cope – Major British Victory

Gross vs Barlow - Major British Victory
Roubaud vs Gaskell - Major British Victory
Blackburn vs Celamanka – Minor American Victory
Wilson vs White – Minor British Victory
Laub vs Kitchen – Major British Victory
Anon Wilson vs Natta – Major British Victory
Although the forces were equally matched in overall numbers the British advantage in maneveur (light and native units), unit and leader quality, and greater individual unit fire power, appeared to contribute to the victories, although a number of matches were only determined in the last few turns -- which suggests time was also a British advantage!
