I am posting this at the main tavern, as I am no longer able to post at the American Tavern. (Yes I know I resigned, but am returning, as a Private, I know, as long as the Cabinet approves.) And the only army for me is the American one.

To bring everyone up to speed.

Lucas brought up the idea of 'hiding' the American Tavern so that thread titles would no longer be viewable to the whold club, in order not to offend members of other armies with said thread titles.

Lucas set up a poll, with no time limits posted, and voted on the matter. The vote quickly became 4 - 2 against the idea (within a day or two.) A lively debate occured as well. After a week or more (if I recall correctly) two more YES votes trickled in making the vote tied.

Today, or yesterday, Lucas declared the polls closed and the results tied. He then declared that his vote was a tie breaker. Basically giving him two votes.

Below is my response to these events.

Lucas, you run this army like Hamilton wanted to run the US, as a dictator.

Your poll was a farce, sir. You gave no time for debate only, and no time limits for voting. (In America the is a set time for debate which is then closed, and voting begins. There is a set time for voitng.) You then closed the poll after your personal opinion was validated, and I believe you double voted.

Let's recap ...

Those voting no - Mike Cox, Mike Davies, Gary McClellan, David Mallory: 4.

Those voting yes - Lucas Kling, George Brooks, Phil Wilson, Greg Cyrier: 4.

You then declare your vote to be a tie breaker, giving you TWO votes on the matter.

Lucas,

You are not representing the spirit of the American people running this army the way you have. Part, a large part, of this club is role-playing. The American Army should be run by someone who understands how America works (or doesn't work). You do not. You understand the European view of life, and the way they run things. The British Army is run that way, and should be. You may be more comfortable there, sir.

The American Army fought for freedom. Free from Old Europe and from those who wanted to set up their own dictatorships (Hamilton, not you Lucas.) Whoever runs this club's American Army must understand that, and put his own view aside, and run the Army that way ... from an American viewpoint.

It may be beyond you to do so. I know I could not run a Swedish Army from their viwepoint, because I'm not Swede, nor have I studied enough of the their culture or history to be able to mimic the Swedish philosphy of life well enough to do it justice.

The American philosophy of life MUST be evident in this army for it to be an American army, and enjoyable for those in it. That philosophy includes, but is not limited to fair elections held openly, with proper debate and NO DOUBLE VOTING!

If your CinC vote was to be a tie-breaker then the vote, by my count was 4 to 3 against. If your vote was just as a club member then the issue is tied, and the resolution fails.

Now is this the American Army of the CCC, or the private army of (whoever is in charge that week) of the CCC? I ask you.
