I know... So many biographies have been done on Napoleon.

But I can assure you this one is very good as it uses as one of the sources the French edition in 15 volumes of Napoleon correspondence that was edited by the Napoleon Foundation between 2000 and 2015. That edition is the most complete. Anyway, Michael Broers wrote a few books on the napoleonic period, and I have to say that his biography of Napoleon in 3 volumes is excellent.
Volume 1 Napoleon, Soldier of Destiny
Volume 2 Napoleon, The Spirit of the Age
Volume 3 Napoleon, The Decline and Fall of an Empire: 1811-1821

The third volume came out a few days ago and I am enjoying it very much.

Agree. I finished the third volume a few weeks ago. Excellent piece of work, very well written. (One slight error, he referred to Bagration as an ethnic Russian, which he wasn’t.). All in all I think a very fair biography. I’m planning to work through Dwyer’s three volumes this summer. Also available is a bio (the first of a multi part one) by a French historian named Patrice Gueffney that I plan to tackle at some point.

I did a review on Amazon about the final book.

True, he was Georgian.

By the way I just finished another beautiful work on Napoleonic wars: The Napoleonic Wars: A Global History by Alexander Mikaberidze. It's really excellent...

My only problem with those very well researched books is that they have a lot of notes at the end of the book, which are harder to follow if you try not to break the reading rhythm. I much prefer notes at the bottom of the pages. It's easier. I wish they well all doing that.

Yes - the Mikaberidze book is incredible (as are his volumes on Borodino and Berezina), and I also highly recommend his three volumes on Russian eyewitness accounts of the 1807 (Eylau/Friedland, which are the Napoleonic battles that most interest me), 1812 and 1814 campaigns. I've come away from them awestruck at the toughness and resilience of the Russian infantry and cavalry. Mikaberidze teaches at LSU-Shreveport, not far from me, and is a very nice guy - he's answered a couple of questions I sent him by email. In my personal opinion, if you only read two books about the period, they should be his book and Chandler's "Campaigns."
