Gentlemen Officers of the NWC:

I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for allowing me to continue serving as your Club President in the coming year. It is my greatest honor to serve you in this capacity, and I will always welcome any suggestions you may have to make our club more enjoyable for all. If there is any way that I can ever help you, please do not hesitate to contact me. My door is, and always will remain, open to each and every one of you.

Very Truly Your Humble Servant,
Mark Jones
NWC President

Just trying to understand the process of the election.

Did nobody challenged you?

Quote:
3.2.2 - Club President

Elected by the NWC club members and serves a 1 year term.

because I don't remember voting on that. Members had until the last day of August if I remember to nominate someone then we were supposed to vote.

Maybe we could change one part of the process to add some excitement to the elections.

Quote:
Starting yesterday, August 1st, any active member of the NWC may nominate any other active member of the NWC to stand for election as the Club’s President for the coming year.
(source: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13355)

Instead of nominating someone else it would be better that the candidates go forward and present their candidacy so that we can have a more straight forward system and certainly no doubts about what happened.

Any way congrats for your re-election. You have done a very good job so far :)

Rule 3.3.8 on Election of President states:

In the event that there is only 1 nominee at close of the nomination period, that person wins the election without a vote.

If I understand you correctly good sir, you are referring to the fact that the nominations made for President currently are presented solely to the Cabinet, and not made public.

I agree that this is something worth considering.
A Democracy is best served when most open and public.

What is the reason that only the Cabinet receive these nominations?

An easy (seemingly to me) alternative is to create a thread at the top of the forums where these nominations may be cast.

As for whether or not a candidate must be nominated by another member as is the present process, or if a member can nominate himself, I can go either way on it.

Perhaps the reason for having another member cast the nomination for the candidate is to prevent frivolous campaigns - if someone else is making the nomination for you it proves you at least do not stand all alone.

The campaigning for the job would have occured now if there had been more than one candidate presented, which apparently there was not.

Regards,

I was only referring to the fact that we have to be nominated by someone else and that we could have been informed earlier by the cabinet about the state of the elections.

And to clarify, I do support our new president who I am sure will be way better that the one we had last year

Usually any organization such as this, when a new leader is elected there can be some adjustment in the first few years, but normally the elected person enjoys uncontested elections after a while. John enjoyed them after his first few years too. 8)

Congrats Mark, maybe you continue to do well... :)

Mark,

You know I have been & always will be in your corner! Thanks for everything you do to make this club what it has become over the last few years in your tenure.
It should be noted, at least from my perspective, that you are most of the most active, involved, amicable & understanding president's of any club I've ever been a part of!! :)
Continue your optimism. Stay out of trouble!!

Thanks!!
