Salute
I agree with David and how do the junior officers of whatever army they serve, able to learn from the more experienced guard. We end up with a club split between two groups, the experienced and less experienced. This needs to stop we need to attract members not drive them away.

One of the things Al and i encourage in the LGA is seniors team up with juniors in multiplayer games.

Even i am planing an MP game with some of my corps commanders to get to know each other.

The key, especially in the larger armies is involvement from the various commanders or at least from a good number of key commanders. The French have been doing a nice job in employing that at quite a number of levels. So credit to them...err....us! :D

The Hanoverian and Brunswick Brigades of the Anglo-Allied Army have practiced a policy of mentorship for several years now. It was actually the 1st Hanoverian Brigade Challenge that spurred an interest in the heart of Todd Schmidgall and others to form the MP teams. We initially challenged a single LGA Corps to field a team of four players against us, but eventually had to expand our challenge to all of LGA to find four who would stand the field. I am sure that Bill Reeves remembers this well. In fact, there is a post hidden somewhere in these forum archives highlighting the lively banter we exchanged during the course of our engagement. Some of the other Coalition Armies displayed some interest, but I think the Prussians were the only other army to actually field a MP Team in a challenge against the French. I may be wrong about that, but I am certain the Prussians rose to at least one MP Challenge. I know that other Coalition armies assembled teams, I am just not sure if the enemy was ever successfully engaged.

Todd can speak more about the many MP games in which we have engaged for mentoring purposes. The 2nd Hanoverian Brigade Challenge has been underway for some time now, we have just not made it a matter of public attention this time. I even have another Maneuver in play with one of my junior Hanoverian officers against Bill Cann and one of his junior Russian officers for the explicit purpose of mentoring them. Jim Hall and Ed Blackburn were also engaged in a mentorship game of Leipzig with another junior Hanoverian officer.

MP mentorship is very much alive and well in the NWC. If any of you junior officers want to pair with a senior officer for 'live combat training', simply speak up, and I will be glad to make the arrangements.

I am sure it is. I don't think it is highlighted enough or offered to enough people. There was also no cross Coalition discussion of it or anything that produced any results. I could be wrong. Also the French can only book so many people for these games, which I think was the issue when the Prussians wanted to take to the field. The French were already over engaged with the Hanoverians and no further efforts were made after that.

So it is possible that one on one mentorship needs to be at least offered from time to time to junior officers, just as a friendly reminder it is there.

All the efforts are good though, which is nice. :)

Possibly because most of the new recruits are using HPS rather than Matrix I find I am being mentored by senior officers of the French persuasion ;-)

This causes confusion for this die hard Englishman who is genetically programmed to hate the French but quite like the French players ;-)

The genetic programming also causes confusion as we are not too keen on the rest of Europe with the exception of Germany who we quite like but have recently had family feuds ;-) Yet we are allies with other European nations in this era ;-)

Helga - 2 valium mit der jagermiester bitte ;-)

Oh nearly forgot - I am Irish/Italian bought up English - Helga - Make that 4 valium ;-)

I do see all points but as for the time being I'm stuck with the Matrix Battleground Series of which there is not a lot of opponents to battle against.

This thread, am I right was started by a member of the LGA asking about tips and help in a particular scenario against a particular opponent. If then this is the case why is it that a thread was started in Pierre's Tavern asking for intelligence on tactics and play style of Allied officers and at this time there are possibly only a handful of posts.

Can someone please tell me why this thread was started if fellow officers were declining to help their comrades in arms with snippets of information that could help their game play or help alter tactics to suit against various opponents. All because we have cheaters.

Another question. Can Matrix Battleground owners play multi-player games, if this is not the case then why would mentoring in a multi-player game be helpful to me, so I have to figure out tactics myself because no-one is willing to post info that can help my game play against various opponents. So I become as I said an excluded minority. To be honest, I think this has got way out of hand, these rules have caused nothing but backbiting, lets get back to the enjoyable, funny and entertaining posts, yes, rules may have to change but does it need to rip the club apart in the process. In my year with the club I have met some fantastic people and very funny ones, Scott, Richard, to name two and many others who I forget,(my memory is not what it used to be, so my apologies) and it is like a big family, a bit of a dysfunctional family but a family all the same, lets not loose sight of this, we are a group who come together to fight the battles of the period, and enjoy the banter and have a laugh when doing so. I know no-one is intentionally going out of their way to offend or hurt the feelings of other members but it is starting to happen and we need to curb this before our family gets split.

Mark,

Yes, you can play MP battles with the BG series, just more file exchanges involved. If you'd like to try one and can find a couple coalition types, i'd be glad to join you.

Cheers!
