Just handed my sword to my opponent Jeff McDonald at turn 20 of 60. The French army ran out of artillery ammo and continued resistance was deemed useless.

Good fight Jeff.

Rich - both sides need more ammo for this fight. If the French cant have enough ammo to fire for more than 2 hours they will not win this one.

I did everything that I knew to do - cloak the guns now and then so they couldnt ADF fire - yet they were out of ammo with 40 turns to go.

British would have been in a similar situation since I noted that they had similar ammo amounts.

The VP locations are not bad but the levels of victory could be adjusted:

Major Defeat: 300
Minor Defeat: 600
Minor Victory: 1200
Major Victory 1500

And those may not be accurate enough. The British have a cakewalk in this one. Just line up and blow away (while being in X order no less) anyone that is on the other shore.

Jeff hadnt taken an objective and had 300 points difference in losses to his advantage.

Since there was no reason to stand on the river any longer and my artillery was out of ammo (I had some guns that were just arriving to the battle) I decided that the best thing to do was to pull off of the map. Thus the British would have had 40 turns or so to exit units off of the map and basically get a huge victory.

My guys were meleeing his at 203 to 63 and losing. I had just as good morale in the fight. The units were fresh. And had a leader too! This happened 3 times as I tried to push him back across the river.

Questions:

1. When will we see less emphasis on manpower and more on morale? Shouldnt 50 A or B class British regulars be able to win a melee against 80 E class American militia?

2. The lopsided defender rating in the melee equation is causing situations like this to be hopeless. The Defender doesnt seem to be able to mount a good counterattack. The units stand too well.

Anyway, not ranting without a solution. While I doubt that you will change the scenarios I just wanted you to know what had happened in the game. I dont think I would want to replay that one again.
