| Al,
You know how you have frequently invited me to buy FIW? Or to buy 1812? And how I usually respond with a vague lack of zeal? Well, here's an idea that you and the leadership might consider for the CCC.

What if administrative points were awarded for battles by anyone who fights with a 2nd or 3rd engine? And rather than a lump sum award, the administrative points would be triggered by actual battles fought, up to (...say...) four battles.

Since we are talking about an outlay of some $80 to $100 more to own an additional two games (whether you start with 1812 or start with Campaign 1776) the administrative point bonus needs to be pretty hefty.

The current point structure is (more or less):

 Win/Loss points + Turn Points +
Completion Bonus (if applicable) = Score

 Win / Loss Points
 Maj Vic = 5
 Min Vic = 4
 Draw  = 3
 Min Def = 2
 Maj Def = 1
 Turn Points: Each 5 turns = 1

Rather than award points tied to one's actual win or loss,
I think the administrative bonus should be a rather fixed
or standard reward for making the effort to buy an engine
in which one is only moderately interested.

So I would suggest an extra 5 administrative points
per battle (for battles that have gone at least half
the maximum turns) - - for up to 4 battles. Thus there
would be 20 point administrative bonus (not to be lumped
in with battle points per se) for each additional engine
 one plays.

As someone now tasked with tracking American battle data,
I can conceive of a relatively simple set of equations
 that could do this automatically.

And best of all, this can be done retroactively!... for
existing members who have bought and used 2 or 3 of the
game engines. While there are thousands of battles in
our database, there are not thousands of members, and
it would be relatively easy to calculate the bonus points
for the members we currently have.

At the end of the day, a decision to offer these 20 points
for each new engine bought and used would compel members
to become familiar with the additional engine scenarios...
 for at least four battles.

So, AL, what do you think? Comments and thoughts from
other CCC members encouraged as well.

 Regards,
