My dear Lord McDonald of Bennington - Royal Highland Emigrants, Greetings & Salutations!
Honoured Sir, I pray that no confusion exists between General d' Armee Philip Roubaud, General en Chef - French Army & myself, General de Division Thomas Philips, Troupes de Terre du Canada - Commanding.
I have requested to play in your Tournament on multiple occasion & have yet to find an offer accepted which, quite frankly I find most perplexing indeed as I have to assume that The British & Americans would consider me an easy Victory.
It may be that our worthy & esteemed commanding general has indeed determined to defend the honour of Sa majesté royale le Roi, La nouvelle France & l'Armée de Terre Royale at Fort Oswego in which case La cause sacrée could not be in more able hands.
Should that prove to be the case perhaps then you might consider placing myself before the gates of Quebec or the next suitable opening you may have, if that pleases you M'lord.
It just occurs to me that such an unintended confusion might arise between his name & my own.
My Dear General
It is with my most humble apologies that in deed my lack of familiarity with the French Language has confused your officers! I also suffered such a problem with "Le Longue Barbe", or is it that most Frenchman in North American are hardly distinguishable with such hair mass!
In addition, with the bleached white uniforms, I can scarcely tell one officer from another! wot WOT
I have corrected the list, please find your self at Oswego
